Taxi driver in trouble for charging a ride from the Colosseum to the Spanish Steps € 45. The complaint was filed by a couple of tourists to the city police for aggravated fraud: Taxi driver now can loose his license. The facts have been reconstructed by the Municipal Police of Rome dating back to last month, when a patrol team was stopped at the Spanish Steps from a tourist of Turkish nationality, on holiday in Rome with his wife, alleged that he was cheated by a taxi driver: boarded in front of the Colosseum, the couple asked to be taken to the Spanish Steps but with the meter turned off, the taxi driver asked them € 25 for a distance about 2 and a half kilometers. Despite the excessive asking price, the tourists have decided to pay but, having given the money with two banknotes, a 20 and a 5, reported that the driver, with a quick maneuver, replaced the 20 bill with a 5, demanding the missing rest. Uncertain and tired of traveling turists under the cabbie pressure pulling out another banknote of € 50 receiving € 35 as a rest of the taxi driver, who walked away thanking. Thanks to the complaint the brigade have traced the taxi driver in a short time, immediately recognized thanks to the photos shown to tourists. The man, already known for other similar episodes, has been reported to the Judicial Authority for the offense of aggravated fraud. The Department of Mobility will also consider the administrative penalty to be paid. source The Messagero.it
